GRINDING AND POINT SPLITTING OR
WEB THINNING IN ONE OPERATION

On the OPTIMA the grinding and point splitting or web thinning are done in one operation. Once the thinning attachment is set on the first drill (Utmost Versatility) it always works to stops i.e. center of the drill regardless of the size of the drill (wheel change required below 1/16" dia.).
All adjustments can be made according to the drilling job.

How to split point or thin the web:
Align the drill in the optics and grind both sides. Swing swivelarm to the right against stop (point thinning drive starts automatically. When engaged red control light is ON). Now simply swing the web wheel onto the drill point and grind to the center of the drill against the adjustable depth stop. Index drill 180° and repeat on other side.

Please note: on the OPTIMA off-center flutes are automatically corrected by thinning both sides of the drill in one setting.
